Benromach Peat Smoke is a bold and smoky Speyside single malt Scotch whisky made for drinkers who enjoy peat, sweetness and classic bourbon-cask richness. Part of Benromach’s experimental Contrasts range, this small-batch release shows a punchier side of the distillery compared with its core house style.

Unlike many Speyside whiskies that focus mainly on fruit and malt sweetness, Benromach Peat Smoke uses heavily peated barley to create a stronger smoky profile. The latest official release was distilled in 2014, bottled in 2024, aged for 9 years and matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon casks. This cask style gives the whisky fragrant vanilla, lemon sherbet, apricot, honey and sweet oak notes, while the peated malt adds rich smoke and bonfire ember depth.

Bottled at 46% ABV, Benromach Peat Smoke delivers more body and flavour intensity than many standard lower-strength single malts. Malaysia retailer listings also describe it as natural colour and non-chill filtered, making it a strong choice for whisky lovers who value texture, authenticity and pronounced smoke.

On the nose, Benromach Peat Smoke opens with rich smoke, fragrant vanilla, light citrus zest, apple and white chocolate. The palate is smooth and rounded, showing toasted oak, honey, ripe fruit, butterscotch, marshmallow and lemon sherbet, all balanced by sweet peat smoke. The finish is mouth-coating, sweet and smoky, with lingering bonfire embers.
