Lagavulin 8 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

RM335.00

Lagavulin is a well-known Scottish whisky. Lagavulin is located on Islay, Scotland’s whisky island. Furthermore, Lagavulin sits quietly in its small and lovely bay. Furthermore, with its rich fruit and smooth smoky flavours complemented by a good dose of Islay peat and crisp sea salt, Lagavulin embodies the flavours of the island on which it sits.

Islay is widely regarded as the Queen of the Hebrides. It has everything you could want in a small Scottish island. As you travel around the island, the landscape and scenery change dramatically, from the long sand shores of Machir bay to the rugged cliffs of the Oa. Those interested in the outdoors will find plenty of spectacular views and walks on the island.

United Distillers & Vintners, which is owned by Diageo plc, produces Lagavulin. Furthermore, Lagavulin is an anglicization of the Gaelic lag a’mhuilin, which means “hollow by the mill.”

The Lagavulin distillery was founded in 1816 by John Jonston and Archibald Campbell, who built two distilleries on the site. However, records show illicit distillation in at least ten illegal distilleries on the site dating back to 1742. Several legal battles with their neighbour Laphroaig erupted in the nineteenth century after the distiller at Lagavulin, Sir Peter Mackie, leased the Laphroaig distillery. Some claim that Mackie tried to imitate Laphroaig’s style. The result was different because the water and peat at Lagavulin’s premises differed from those at Laphroaig’s. The Lagavulin distillery is located in the same village.
