Mortlach x Starck L’Evolution is a bold limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky created through a collaboration between Mortlach and world-renowned designer Philippe Starck. This release brings together Mortlach’s powerful “Beast of Dufftown” whisky character with Starck’s futuristic design language, resulting in a bottle made for collectors, luxury gifting and serious whisky appreciation.

The L’Evolution collection was created to express the journey of Mortlach whisky from origin to transformation and maturity. The collection includes Begin, Become and Beyond, each representing a different stage of Mortlach’s evolution. The standalone Become release is described as the “thunderous heartbeat” of Mortlach, showing the distillery’s true character in an electric and modern form.

Mortlach x Starck L’Evolution Become is matured through a combination of virgin oak, red wine and refill casks. This cask recipe gives the whisky a powerful balance of sweetness, spice, structure and peppery intensity. Bottled at 55.4% ABV, it delivers a bold, full-bodied drinking experience that reflects Mortlach’s rich, weighty and complex house style.

The presentation is just as distinctive as the whisky itself. Philippe Starck designed an innovative 3D-printed cage inspired by the gyri, the ridges of the human brain. The design protects the bottle while symbolising intelligence, evolution and the subconscious character of the whisky.

On the nose, Mortlach x Starck L’Evolution opens with sticky fruit loaf, sultanas, dates and a dry, heavy undertone. The palate is smooth, strong, spicy and sweet, with rich texture, oak power and warming intensity. The finish is long, peppery and punchy, leaving a bold impression that suits drinkers who enjoy full-bodied, high-strength Speyside whisky.
