Talisker 8 Year Old “Tidal Churn” – 2024 Special Release is a bold cask strength single malt Scotch whisky from the Isle of Skye, created for Diageo’s 2024 Special Releases collection. Inspired by the restless movement of the sea, this limited-edition Talisker captures the distillery’s signature maritime smoke, peppery heat and coastal salinity in a powerful 58.7% ABV expression.

This 8-year-old release is shaped by an unusual cask treatment described as “stone-spun” casks. The casks’ original char layers are polished away using rocks and water before the wood is lightly re-toasted. This process allows fruitier and creamier oak characters to rise through Talisker’s natural smoke, salt and spice. The result is a high-strength whisky with waves of pear, apple, vanilla, seaweed, pepper, spice and coastal smoke.

On the nose, Talisker Tidal Churn opens with sea breeze, rock pools, oyster shells, faint smoke, pear, apple and subtle vanilla. The palate is smooth, mouth-filling and creamy, starting sweet before moving into a salty mid-palate with pepper, seaweed, maritime smoke and spice. The finish is long and warming, developing classic Talisker pepper with a cool Sichuan-pepper sensation that becomes more expressive with a small dash of water.
